For this project, I was tasked with creating a black eyeball effect. Accuracy and believability were the primary priorities, as the effect needed to feel grounded while preserving the actor’s performance.

The look was achieved using an animated black mask applied to the eyes. To maintain realism, I designed secondary masks that selectively removed portions of the main mask, allowing natural highlights from the actor’s eyes to remain visible. This approach helped preserve the reflective qualities that audiences subconsciously associate with real eyes.

To further retain subtlety, the primary black mask was given slight transparency. This allowed micro-movements and underlying eye detail to remain perceptible, preventing the effect from appearing flat or artificial.

Additionally, I performed cleanup work to remove an unintended reflection of another actor that had been captured in the water during filming.
